Barometer MeteoMan

NASA Marine

For sailors planning a voyage, accurately predicting the weather is crucial. The rate of change in barometric pressure and past wind speed data can offer invaluable insights into upcoming conditions. Many yachtsmen use inexpensive domestic barometers, which often lack accuracy, resolution, and historical data. While high-quality paper recording instruments are available, they tend to be delicate, cumbersome to operate, and prone to jamming in damp conditions. The MeteoMan addresses these issues effectively. It provides precise, high-resolution barograph recordings of over five days of barometric pressure and wind speed data. Designed for ease of use, durability, and minimal power consumption, it is a dependable tool for marine environments. The MeteoMan also offers an optional NMEA Wind Sensor, which measures wind direction, wind speed, and external temperature. Its main display shows wind speed and direction, ambient temperature, and barometric pressure. To help predict future trends, it includes a detailed barograph and anemograph that display barometric pressure and wind speed history over the previous five days. Beyond its meteorological capabilities, the MeteoMan features a marine chronometer, stopwatch, race countdown timer, and displays for internal temperature and battery voltage. It can integrate with the NMEA Clipper Wind system to receive wind speed and direction data via the Clipper wind output. The NMEA Wind Sensor comes with mounting brackets and 20 meters of two-core screened cable and supports NMEA 0183 sentences for wind speed/direction (MWV) and temperature (XDR).
